Protect Clothing from Common Hazards - Easy Care Advise for a Busy Lifestyle

Tip! Take extra special care of leather clothing items for lifetime wear.

When it comes to
clothing care - dry cleaning, mothballs and cedar are what
typically comes to mind. But in fact, common damages such
as snags, discoloration, and mildew cannot be prevented by
using these care methods; particularly for delicate fibers like
silk, lace and beads.

Whether storing clothing and accessories at home or packing for a trip, these simple ideas can safeguard them for years to come.

1) Use fabric bags for storage vs plastic — Some plastic
and vinyl bags emit PVC gases that over time that can
discolor and weaken delicate fibers. Their poor breathability
can also encourage the development of moldiness and
mildew. Fabric bags are breathable, which keeps garments
fresher and fabrics safer.

2) Create wardrobe “zones” — Even if space is tight,
designate an area inside closets and drawers to keep
valued items away from high traffic areas that are used
every day. It’s an easy way to organize and protect delicate
fabrics from snags and pulls.

Tip! Hidden Treasures: Believe it or not, my best money making items have been my Used and Gently worn Name brand clothing. You can find a lot of ‘gems’ in thrift stores and local garage sales.

3) Keep tissue paper handy — Whether storing items at
home or inside luggage, folding them in a sheet of tissue
provides a little extra protection from inadvertent snags on
rough surfaces or other items. For long term storage
acid-free paper and breathable storage containers are
recommended.

Tip! Donate used clothing to charities for tax deductions.

4) Air out worn garments out before storing them— This
helps reduce the attraction of insects that are drawn to
odors from food, perspiration and perfumes. Closets will
also benefit by not having stale odors affect other attire.

5) Check delicate garments after wearing them — Take a
few minutes to check for loose beads and use a small pin
to tie off the ends. Some snagged items can be handled at
home with a needle or repair kits. If unsure, taking it to a
professional tailor is recommended

Tip! Borrow maternity clothing when possible. Ask recently pregnant ladies at your church, family members and friends.

6) Be careful with mothballs and cedar — If items are stored
in a cedar chest, be careful that garments do not come in
contact with the oils which can cause “burning”
discoloration. Also, mothballs and cedar may repel insects -
but if garments are not cleaned before storage, larvae that
have been deposited can still cause damage.

Tip! Buy coordinated clothing so you can mix and match and have more outfits.

These are just a few ideas to help protect fine apparel from
common hazards such as snags, mold and discoloration…
and keep them looking great for years.

Tip! Alter adult’s clothing for your children.

Wholesale Clothing Tips For Flea Market Vendors

Tip! Teach children to care for their clothing.

Wholesale brand name clothing is the product category that most flea market vendors make their money with.
While this means that having access to wholesale clothing can help a flea market vendor make money, it also means that there will be plenty of competition in the flea market for it.

Here are tips specifically geared for flea market vendors that sell brand name clothing.

Flea Market Brand Name Clothing Sales Tip #1

Separate according to price point. Have your booth set up so that you distinguish between your higher and lower priced brand name clothing. This way a customer will not be turned off by high or low prices.

You can always direct your customer to the price point that he or she is comfortable with.

Flea Market Brand Name Clothing Sales Tip #2

Prominently display the tags and labels. By prominently displaying the tags and labels you are showing your customers the brand names you are selling.
Customers have been known to buy clothing simply because of the brand name, so it is important that they see the brands you have for sale.

Flea Market Brand Name Clothing Sales Tip #3

Let them know your clothing is genuine. Customers know that genuine brand name clothing is of a higher value than the brand name knock offs. And even when the quality is similar most customers prefer to buy genuine and original brand name clothing. Have a large display sign announcing that your brand name clothing is real.

Flea Market Brand Name Clothing Sales Tip #4

Don’t price your brand name clothing below a realistic price. If your prices are too low for brand name clothing customers will assume that they are fakes. By having a realistic price you are telling your customers that your merchandise is real, and that is why you are charging a low but fair price.

Tip! How To Buy NWT Gymboree and Name Brand Clothing: It is really hard to purchase a large volume of NWT clothing, and I can personally vouch for this, because I have made ALOT of mistakes this past year, and I have lost a lot of $ in the process. These are my recommendations gained from my own mistakes, but you can create your own method for obtaining your inventory.

Tip! Save older children’s clothing for hand-me-downs for the younger ones.

Wholesale Clothing Tips For Retailers

Tip! Buy ski clothing during August; other sports clothing during July sales.

Wholesale clothing seems to be abundant these days. A quick click of the mouse and a retailer can find thousands of sources for wholesale clothing.

But what retailers need the most, are strategies for selling the wholesale clothing which they buy.

Here are my top tips for selling clothing out of a store:

Clothing Sale Tip #1

Always have a well lit store. You can have the nicest clothing in your store, but unless your customers get a good look at it they won’t buy it.

Clothing Sale Tip #2

Separate the clothing by brand. Your customers know the brands they want. Help them to easily find those brands in your store by using well displayed signs.

Clothing Sale Tip #3

Full color photos. People are buying into an image when they purchase brand name clothing. Remind them of that image by having pictures in your store of people wearing the clothing.
You can obtain plenty of promotional pictures from the brands by simply calling them.
They look for opportunities to promote their brands, so they will be glad to send you professionally produced full color pictures.

Tip! When you HAVE to purchase maternity clothing, look first at garage sales, thrift shops, re-sale shops and then eBay…in that order. Your best deals will be found at garage sales, while purchasing in re-sale shops or eBay will lead you to higher priced items.

Clothing Sale Tip #4

Clean stores. People want to shop in clean stores. Keep your store clean and your customers will enjoy spending time in your store.

Clothing Sale Tip #5

Stay organized. Your store needs to be organized. Customers want and easy and smooth shopping experience. By having an organized store you will enable your customers to easily locate the clothing that they are looking for.
